An Authentic Heurigenabend
For the TMP 2026 conference dinner, we are leaving the Parkhotel for an evening at one of Vienna's most beloved traditional wine taverns.
What is a Heuriger?
A Heuriger (or Buschenschank) is a Viennese institution: a family-run wine tavern where the year's young wine is served alongside hearty regional food, in cosy panelled rooms or under the chestnut trees of a courtyard. The tradition goes back to a decree by Emperor Joseph II in 1784, allowing winegrowers to serve their own wine on their own premises.
The Weingut Fuhrgassl-Huber, founded in 1973 and run today by Thomas Huber, is one of the most popular Heurigen in Vienna. It sits in the wine-village of Neustift am Walde, between the vineyards and the Wienerwald, with its 14-hectare Mitterberg vineyard — the largest contiguous plot in the city — producing the famous Wiener Gemischter Satz.
Expect cosy rooms, a romantic courtyard, the warmth of a Viennese evening, and the chance to taste a Wiener Gemischter Satz at its source.
